A More Genteel Time

President William McKinley was shot on September 5, 1901. A couple days later on the 8th, Carrie Nation gave a speech in which she stated that she hoped he would die. Members of the audience did not react positively to this.

Although for around a week doctors thought he would survive his injuries, the President died of his wounds on September 14, 1901.
